This week has been very back and forth for me in the eating department. One day good, the next day bingey, the next day good...it's a vicious cycle that I need to stop. Like, yesterday. Some of you may question why I am choosing such a busy and food-heavy time of year to try to get myself back on track, but I figure, if I can manage it now, I can certain manage it during the rest of the year!
In other news, my kids wrote their letters to Santa today. Well, I did most of the writing. I asked Donovan (the 2 year old) what he wants for Christmas, and he said, "A Mickey." Now, he has a bunch of Mickey Mouse toys, so I can only assume that he wants a real animated mouse to show up at our house, and that isn't going to happen. So I convinced him to ask for Thomas trains and Batman stuff. My daughter wants Ever After High dolls and some Megablocks Barbie things.
I want there to be a real Santa so that I wouldn't have to pay for this stuff, ha ha.
Less than a month until Christmas. I can't believe it...
Child-rearing, getting fit, crafting..and trying to have fun (all while living with mental illness). Yes, I'm crazy...they had me tested! Welcome!

Winter Wonderland!!!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!
I realize that I may be one of the few people who are actually THRILLED about our early snowfalls this year. It’s making me so happy! Granted, I don’t live in a place that has had a horrible storm (like the poor, poor people in Buffalo!), but we are getting a nice dusting. It is putting me into the early Christmas mood. I know that the snow isn’t likely to last more than a few days in our area, so I’m enjoying it while I can. I treated myself to some hot chocolate at work today (yes I counted my points) and felt really festive. It’s only about 5 weeks until Christmas and I KNOW that time will pass quickly!
I guess it’s time to think about changing the Hallowe’en wallpaper on my blog, eh? I’ll get on that…soon…
In the meantime, wish me luck staying on track from now on. Apparently I gained 7 pounds in a week, although I suspect my scale is lying because that just doesn’t seem possible…

Ol’ McBrenna had a Cough…
With a cough cough here, and a cough cough there…
Yeah, I’m still not feeling too hot. Nothing serious. I just seem to have been hit with a bad cold. I haven’t had the energy to exercise all week (except for a walk), and I’m feeling a bit lazy. The only plus side is that this is the first time in a long time that I haven’t used sickness as an excuse to eat all of the junk in the world. So there’s that. With so many people suffering in the world, I shouldn’t really be complaining.
Guess what? I lost 3.2 lbs this week! I am so excited! And, surprisingly, I ate a little bit over my calories every day. Now, don’t get me wrong – I didn’t binge. Which is a victory in and of itself! I was just extra hungry this week – and I am so glad that it didn’t affect the scale! I’m not really a fan of letting yourself go hungry.
I’ve discovered a yummy way to eat lower-fat cream soup. I do love creamy, cheesey soups, but sometimes the calorie count leaves something to be desired. What I did this week was the following: I took a can of reduced-calorie cream of broccoli soup (90 calories for one cup) and added about ¾ cup of broccoli that I pre-cooked. Then, once the soup was ready and in my bowl, I sprinkled some cheddar cheese on it and waited a minute or two for it to melt just a bit. Mmm…delicious! And healthier, due to the extra broccoli!
Hope you all have a good weekend!

Seriously?
You won't be surprised to hear that my body seems to be continuing on its one-sickness-per-month thing it has going on. 2014 is just NOT my year.
We also had to put down our second pet in less than 5 months. This time, it was our 18-year-old cat, Hannah. Let me tell you - losing a pet that you've had since you were 12 is NOT fun at all. Poor girl.
More and more, I'm looking forward to this year ending and a new one beginning. I feel ready for a fresh start...
